What is Driveless?
Driveless is a streaming cloud drive for Mac. Your footage lives in the cloud, appears in Finder as a normal drive, takes 0 KB on your Mac, and opens in Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve or Final Cut Pro in under a second because only the frames you touch are streamed. When does Driveless launch?
India, January 2027. The waitlist is open now. US and UK regions follow after India has proved the model.
Does Driveless work on Windows?
Not at launch. Driveless is Mac-only to begin with; one platform means one first-run experience and a smaller team. Windows is a later decision.
What internet speed do I need?
1080p and proxies stream from about 40 Mbps. Camera-native 4K H.264 and H.265 stream live from about 100 Mbps, with headroom on 300 Mbps (measured at 2.17× realtime). ProRes 422 and LT want a gigabit line. ProRes 422 HQ masters go through the studio cache on your office network or the automatic cloud proxies. Test your line on the homepage in ten seconds.
Can I work offline?
Yes. Pin any file or folder and it downloads fully to your Mac. Edit on a flight or at a shoot; changes sync back when you are online. Unpin it and the space comes back.
How much does Driveless cost?
Free: 20 GB. Solo: ₹999 a month for 1 TB, or ₹699 a month for life for founding members who join before launch. Team: ₹1,799 per editor a month with 1 TB per editor pooled and the studio cache included. Studio: ₹2,499 per TB a month plus ₹499 a seat, minimum 5 TB. Archive: ₹599 per TB a month. Prices exclude 18% GST; annual plans get two months free; UPI is accepted and every invoice is a GST invoice. The full table is on the pricing page.
What is the founding price?
The first 5,000 creators who join the waitlist before the January 2027 launch pay ₹699 a month for Solo instead of ₹999, for as long as their subscription stays continuous. The first 50 studios get their first three months free. Joining the waitlist costs nothing and commits you to nothing.
What is the studio cache? Do I have to buy hardware?
No hardware. The studio cache is software you install on any Mac in your office. Every editor on the network reads from it at LAN speed (3,257 Mbps measured), and the cloud is asked once per studio instead of once per editor. It is included on Team and above.
Is my footage safe?
Files are encrypted before they leave your Mac. Three copies are kept. Every plan has versions, a 30-day trash and daily snapshots. Team plans have roles and per-project permissions, so a freelancer sees one project, not your library.
Where is my data stored?
India-region storage is available on request on the Team plan and included on the Studio plan, for clients who need footage to stay in India. Other plans use nearby regions chosen for speed.
What happens to the files on my Mac when I cancel?
Pin and download anything you want to keep before you cancel; pinned files are ordinary files on your Mac. The grace period after cancellation will be published in the terms before launch.
